It’s a big day for Barney New York. Not only are we unveiling our Electric Holiday windows tonight (and building the suspense all day long with an island-wide scavenger hunt), but we’re also celebrating the three Barneys New York designers who took home the much-coveted CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund awards last night.
Our hats go off to jewelery maven Jennifer Meyer, shoe designer Tabitha Simmons and first-prize winner Greg Chait of The Elder Statesman. Greg’s award includes a $300,000 cash prize, a year of mentoring from industry vets as well as a handsome stack of pages devoted to the collection in Vogue. Not too shabby!
These three weren’t the only Barneys designers enjoying the limelight. Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty of Suno, A.L.C.’s Andrea Lieberman, Giulietta’s Sofia Sizzi, Justin Salguero of Illesteva and Jennifer Fisher were among the honorees at last night’s dinner ceremony held in New York City, and our own Mark Lee and Tomoko Ogura were there to cheer them on. Also in attendance were Chelsea Clinton, presenter Emma Stone and fashion-industry heavyweights Diane von Furstenberg and Anna Wintour.
For more on The Elder Statesman, check out the video interview we conducted this summer as part of Jay Bell’s Bright Young Things series or head to Barneys.com to shop the collection. But don’t dawdle! We’re predicting a sell-out collection.
