If all the coverage of Cannes has got you pining for la vie en rose, you’re in luck. For the Nina Ricci pre-fall 2012 collection, creative director Peter Copping channels the label’s distinctly Parisian brand of romance, but cleverly modernizes it with a masculine touch.
Copping tells Vogue he was inspired by the work of the Dutch duo Ari Versluis and Ellie Uyttenbroek, whose photographic series Exactitudes (a contraction of exact and attitudes) explores the idea of shared identities expressed through uniformities in dress. Three years at the helm of the fashion house and Copping continues to put forth brilliant suggestions for what the various Ricci uniforms might be.
We love that he sticks by the classics, but manages to find a way to loosen them up just so. (Don’t you love the models’ mussed ponies?) All we can say is, quel triomphe!
