Couldn’t make it to Milan Fashion Week? These transporting snapshots from our very own Amanda Brooks will make you feel like you were right there in the front row.

Before arriving in Milan, I made a three-day detour to Florence to work on Barneys’ private label collection. It was a great trip, but sadly I missed some terrific shows, particularly Raf Simons‘ heart-stopping final collection for Jil Sander, which got unanimous raves from everyone. Florence was beautiful though, and when we weren’t at the factories, we were enjoying clear skies and 70-degree weather.

Marni was my first show in Milan, and it gave me another clue that Japanese inspiration was going to be a big trend for the season, having first caught wind of it at Proenza Schouler in New York. This hunch would be reinforced big time in Paris, with Asian influence on many runways. The look above was my favorite—I love the military pockets, and the red fur stopped me in my tracks.

These Gianvito Rossi shoes are what I call a lifetime investment—they may cost a hefty amount, but if you take care of them, they will literally last you a lifetime. I love that they are a modern take on a classic shape, in completely classic crocodile skin.

I was thrilled that the newsworthy bouquets of flowers from the Jil Sander show were still alive when I got to the showroom to see the collection. They were even more incredible in person.

Although the Jil Sander collection focused mainly on pastels, it was this pop of red that really caught my attention.

This clutch takes everything Bottega Veneta is known for—woven materials, killer handbags and gorgeous colors—to a whole new level of luxury and style.

The document holder is for sure the accessory of the season—nearly every house showed them on the runway. I particularly liked the rich colors and subtle hardware on these two by Marni.

I don’t know how Dolce & Gabbana top themselves every season with their show production. This season the runway was lined with giant, ornate chandeliers wrapped in fresh roses. The room looked (and smelled!) heavenly.

The ultimate iPad case from Fendi. The beaded front, checkerboard sides and woven leather handle are just incredible.

Mr. Armani takes his bow. He’s such an icon—his presence impresses me every time.

On the plane to Paris, I was treated to this unbelievable view of the Italian Alps.
