Phoebe Philo left big shoes to fill at Chloé—we’re guessing they were a pair of her signature wooden wedges—but Hannah MacGibbon, a fellow graduate of London’s Central Saint Martins, was just the woman for the job. Like Philo, she was loyal to Chloé’s trademark look of modern femininity, but she brought another dimension to the brand.
If Philo pulled from a 60s aesthetic, MacGibbon looked to the 70s, playing with nude hues, high waists and statement-making capes. Her designs were sophisticated, graceful and fluid. Below, watch footage from MacGibbon’s Fall/Winter 2009 show. Like what you see? Both the cape and leather shorts can be yours. They are available at Barneys New York as part of Chloé’s 60th anniversary collection (in stores only).
