How does one survive the parties, presentations and back-to-back fashion shows of New York Fashion Week, you ask? It is after all a marathon, not a sprint.
Yesterday, we gave you a peek at beauty guru François Nars’ survival kit. Today, we turn to one of our own—vice president of women’s CO-OP RTW Molly Nutter. Take a page from her book and you’ll be ready for anything, whether you’re in the front row or backstage.
ONE
A quick run early in the morning to wake up and clear my head.
TWO
An Americano or iced coffee, depending on the weather. (I have a three-a-day caffeinated beverage limit). And lots of water.
THREE
I feel sane if I have somewhat of a uniform. I stick to sharp and tailored, whether it be a shirt, jacket or trouser, but never all at once. If I’m wearing at least one of these elements, I feel put together. For trousers, A.L.C. or 3.1 Phillip Lim.
FOUR
My iPad—obviously great for my emails and schedule, but I couldn’t survive without a link to the outside world, specifically the Times and HuffPo apps.
FIVE
Nude lip gloss during the day and a nearly-obnoxious hot pink lipstick for any event at night. Chanel lip gloss in glossamer and By Terry lipstick in pink party.
SIX
Instead of ballet flats, a chic smoking slipper. They look great and allow me to rest my feet between heels, which are mainly single sole suede Blahniks.
SEVEN
A huge bag for my tickets, paperwork, shoes and water. The aptly named 31 hour bag by Phillip Lim has been getting a lot of mileage this time around.
EIGHT
Tailored shirts—the white from Rag & Bone, stripes from Boy. by Band of Outsiders, or solid blue from Acne.
NINE
A big wristful of jewelry. Usually an Hermès watch, a cuff from Jennifer Fisher, Wendy Nichol or Fallon and some sort of wrap around cord from Miansai with random spiky bits thrown in.
TEN
A jacket—Rag & Bone, The Row or Céline. Looking forward to getting a Laveer jacket to take to Paris.
